A Journal of Speleo-Electronics
Edited and Published by David Gibson

This new venture - a magazine called A Journal of Speleo-Electronics - has been designed to complement the CREG journal (the journal of BCRA's Cave Radio & Electronics Group) for which I remain the Technical Editor. Issue 1 was originally planned for the end of June 2006, when I estimated that it will be 24 pages (A4) and would contain articles on

  • Remote Data Logging with Cell-Phones and the Internet
  • Data Telemetry Using HTTP
  • Sensiometry of CCD cameras
  • Rock fragmentation by the discharge of pulsed electrical energy
  • Noise-cancelling microphones

Well, ... most of those items are completed, but I just havent found the time to do the final formatting and actually think about "publishing". It is now May 2007 and I dont see any hope of immediately getting around to this. I guess you could say that the project has stalled for a while :-(

Subscriptions

Publication will be on paper, and at five-monthly intervals. Subscriptions will be charged on a "per issue" basis. Please use the form below to order back-issues or register for future issues; or you can just book each issue as it is published (which you may prefer to do). You can pay via NoChex or PayPal (details here) or by a cheque drawn on a UK bank, or (as a last resort) by IBAN/SWIFT bank transfer. Please note that payments via Western Union are not accepted. Why not?

Type of Subscription
 Caver (free)

These rates include airmail postage world-wide

The cavers' rate is for individuals who can demonstrate membership of their national caving organisation (not a local caving club) and for clubs/groups that can do likewise. You will need to provide a scan or photocopy of an appropriate membership card.

Once an issue is published, previous issues are no longer available at the cavers' rate.

If you represent a commerical, industrial or academic body, you are invited to pay the higher charge, which is a closer reflection of the true cost of production. An invoice can be issued.

You can order these issues in advance, as you would for a 'subscription', but the money you pay me is not a subscription; it is a donation to further my work in cave radio and electronics. If you doubt whether these issues are actually going to be published (and I cannot guarantee it), then you might prefer to wait until after the publication date to order them!
